December 1-15

Everything has been good lately. The baby is growing and stretching and kicking. I’m growing too, and beginning to worry about things like daycare and finding a pediatrician. We have discussed many options and have decided to go with a daycare that is pretty close by and a pediatrician that is just down the road from my work as well. This way if the baby is sick or if I need to get to her for any reason, I’m not far at all and neither is the doctor. We chose a pediatrician with rights at Baptist Health. Choosing the daycare and the doctor were not as scary as I thought it would be. I had so many friends that would look at me in panic and say you don’t have a daycare picked out yet!?? That made the situation a little stressful, but I work well under stress.

With those two things behind me, I am beginning to think about my baby shower, getting registered, and getting the nursery ready. All of this to think about and Christmas is this month as well and I have not bought one gift yet! I think Dayton and I are probably going to do a very small Christmas between us and then buy something for the nursery for both of us. We have picked out a crib and nursery set that we plan to get soon. The great thing is, I have a friend that picked out the same furniture we have selected and they are really happy with theirs so far. This month I have several friends that are delivering! Three boys and one girl are coming into the world this December. Our little girl will be 4 months younger than them but I’m sure they will be good playmates! My brother and sister-in-law are one month a head of me in their pregnancy and doing well. I will have plenty of people to call crying in the middle of the night because I know they will be awake with their babies too!

I have also prepared some of my leave paperwork so that my husband can just turn it in for me if needed. It’s so hard to decide what type of leave to take. I have been reading about everything that I can from our Human Resources Department about the leave as possible. I’m just trying to make sure my ducks are in a row! Also this month, I signed up for the Special Delivery Program through my Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance. This program works hand in hand with the program here at work for Back to Work Moms. It assists with breastfeeding information and more. Since I signed up, the Baptist Health part of the program allows me access to a breast pump for one month free after delivery and a room to pump in when needed here on campus. What a great thing!! I hope that other employers have caught on to this as well.

As we near the time to register for baby items, are there any baby items that you recent moms used or new gadgets that you would suggest me registering for? I’m taking my Mom with me to register, but since I was the last baby she had, she may not be up on all the gadgets and gizmos! Please let me know your suggestions!
